So I saw an article on Yahoo the other day talking about why certain companies were struggling, Best Buy was the cover image. I didn’t actually read the article… but after going into Best Buy twice this week, I can most certainly tell you why I think they’re struggling.
Both times I went in there were low traffic times… like 2:00 in the afternoon on a weekday. You would think they’d only have a few people working at this time due to the low traffic, but it was in fact the opposite… in both instances. There were at least 20-25 workers there, and maybe 5-10 customers. Why, oh why, is it necessary to have so many people on the clock?
I was a business major in school, and we learned about this stuff, but anyone with some common sense can obviously figure this out… so why can’t the geniuses at Best Buy do the same? Not to mention the days of going out and buying movies/games/cd’s and so on and so forth are dying. Anything is downloadable online now… so they have to do something to pick it up.
Anyways, Borders learned the hard way, as did Circuit City… and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Best Buy be the next big giant that falls. I’d be sad… I love that store… but I wouldn’t be surprised.
